About us

We’re Katrina Stamatopoulos and Wojciech Kawczyk.

At our studio Equivalentbehaviour Space, we work on the cusp of craft, experimentation, preservation and collaborative production. Every project is a negotiation between idea and matter: we find what each material wants to do and how form can emerge from it.

For us, materials are active collaborators - wood, metal, paper, and light guide form rather than are being forced into it. Every idea and object becomes a rigorous translation of thought into matter, made to last and made to be noticed.

This sensibility towards materiality, is inherent with our approach. We see reclaimed and surplus materials as resources for new possibilities, shaping outcomes in unexpected ways. Our goal is to work collaboratively on finding unconventional solutions for the enabling of ideas - ensuring that every project we work on carries presence, weight, and consequence.

As a project space, Equivalentbehaviour’s focus is to create a platform for sharing ideas and knowledge; with promoting maintenance of craft as practice. We are open to work through workshops, food, residencies, live performance and Installation, and are dedicated to bringing people together in bridging curiosity between art, consumption, science and design.
