Photography

Katrina Stamatopoulos is an artist and photographer devoted to challenging what representation means in image making and image consuming. Her photography involves a wide variety of subjects, including still life, object digitisation and process documentation.

She often works with other designers, makers and curators to visualise their ideas, and is interested in how an image can communicate the intention and presence of an object’s materiality.

Her approach is driven by process, craft, and a commitment to image making that oscillates between abstraction and documentation. Working predominantly with analogue process, she specialises in photographing on film (small, medium and large formats), darkroom printing and hand colouring, and works with a variety of digital scanners to capture surface details.
